The Budgerigar Society is the governing body of every society and association in England, Wales and The Republic Of Ireland. The current president is our very own chairman John Herring. and his brother David is also involved in the running of the society; he is the publicity officer for the society and makes sure that things are known about by the members. If you decide to join the Budgerigar Society, which is of course very worthwhile (especially if you are starting out) you will receive your welcome pack from the society, and then bi-monthly you will receive a copy of the Society's publication 'The Budgerigar'. If you wish to contact the society then you will need the following address (or see their Website, see below) Spring Gardens Northampton NN11DR Telephone: (01604)624549 Fax: (01604)627108 http://www.budgerigarsociety.com Also if you join the Budgerigar Society you have the chance to buy your own rings who's number will be confirmed on subscription or you can have a personalized one made, for example BS 1. This cost a minimum of £31. There is also the chance for you to join the veterinary diagnostic scheme (VDS) where your birds can be sent if they have died and you don' know the cause. Dr. Baker will perform a postmortem on your bird and plan out a report of what he has observed. This costs £5 per person but is well worth the money. |
